Ever since I was young I have been fascinated with primates, and especially Gorillas. Aside from the occasional nose-picking and feces launching (ok, I actually enjoyed that too) I could have watched them for hours on end. I was enamored by the human-like attributes and the often exhibited humor. Titus happens to have been born in the Virunga Mountains in Rwanda in the same year I was born in 1974. The world has watched him grow up and pass on and his legacy has helped our species learn more about his. 

Done in an open impressionist or pointillist style, this exotic animal was painted in bold, split-compliment color schemes and high contrasting value scales. The "shattering" effect as I often refer to it, adds energy to the spaces and helps transition shapes and perceived lines.
